For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may
put to silence the ignorance of foolish men (1 Peter 2:15).

It is the will of God that by our honorable lives we put
to silence foolish men. So who are foolish men? Solomon said
honor is as unseemly to a fool as snow is in the summer.
So dishonorable men are foolish men.
We are not to be foolish, but wise. Honor is a sign
of true biblical wisdom.

We Are Beloved, Honorable Sons

Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my
decease to have these things always in remembrance.
For we have not followed cunningly devised fables,
when we made known unto you the power and coming
of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses
of his majesty. For he received from God the

Father honour and glory, when there came such a
voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved
Son, in whom I am well pleased (2 Peter 1:15-17).

Peter wrote to the believers of his day: “After I depart I
want you to remember what I told you.
We are not following cunningly devised fables,
because we were there as eyewitnesses with the
Lord Jesus when He received honor and glory.”

In our daily lives, you and I are to reflect the same
honor and glory that was bestowed upon Jesus by
God. By doing so, we too are pleasing to our heavenly
Father, who has promised to uphold us just as He
upheld Jesus.

Honor One Another

Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love;
in honour preferring one another; not slothful in business;
fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope;
patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
distributing to the necessity of saints;
given to hospitality (Romans 12:10-13).

In this passage, the Apostle Paul tells us how we are to
act in our relationships with our fellow Christians. We are
to love one another, care for one another, be patient
with one another, pray for one another and honor one
another. We are not to get involved in situation ethics.

Situation ethics is typically for people who are so called
“basically honest.” This means they do not lie
unless they are under pressure or when it is to their
advantage. This is not honor.
